Wireless trigger for studio lights

I have a YN560 flash that give good and consistant results... And a set of YN04ii's (good at distances less than 4.5 metres) that I use as back up triggers should my CactusV4's fail

I think 'writting off' a company because one new product is incompatible with the pentax system is a little harsh... They have a good deal of products that do work very well...

The RF-602's are widely used by pentax shooters with little complaint and their manual flashes (460-II's and 560's in particular) are becoming incredibly well used accross the board, whichever brand or system you buy into...

And what will someone with say 12 RF-602's do when say 3 of them conk out and Yongnuo have nothing to replace them with

The only solution is buy 12 of another make.... Ouch!!!

I've the Cactus V5 now and so far they work really well and the build quality is good.

Will people who bought into the first generation of pocket wizards not be in the same (if not worse $£$£!!) boat?
From a quick search the RF-602 is still widely available on ebay... In fact they can be also be obtained from yongnuo directly as they have (as yet) not been discontinued...

I'm not sure about the pocket wizards. Most people who wanted a lot of triggers would have gone for cheaper stuff because of the price.

Does it sync OK at 1/180th ?

Definitely syncs fine to 1/180. Got a set of 4 and love them. Sadly cannot go higher as Pentax cameras block the hotshoe at higher speeds.

My V4's sync fine at 1/180 as did my YN-04II's

Yep, and it work with the af540fgz now which the v4 didn't...
It also has some nice other features as well.

I'm thinking of a work around but i'm not sure if it work...
The cactus v5 can also trigger the camera since it has a remote function so what will happen if you do that and use the other V5 with flashes?

I don't think the camera is fast enough to capture the flash though...

Some people turn the camera upside down to sync at a higher
speed, if it's outside it shouldn't show a black band because
it's the sky

I don't have the remote release cable. I didn't know if I'd use it so left it.

Pentax cameras you can't even get black bars there is no way to fire the flash at higher speeds as far as I have been able to fathom.

But that's why you need the catus v5 to trigger the camera and the flash as well so the camera does nothing to trigger the flash.

But i'm afraid the flash will go off faster then the K5 has the time to make a photo...
