Nice fig Roger. Some more light on the interior of the fruit would focus attention more on that. The shadow is a good touch.

I can't see the first picture. Second one is nice but seems to be lacking a bit of sharpness?

Thanks, I-Berg.
I couldn't up the level for the red inside without risking burning-out the rim-light (any more!)

& Thanks , Lidy.
The"first picture" isn't there, as it were. The (my) transfer from Photobucket......

The original, & an A4 print, shows a tiny hair(?), extreme top left of the fig, which, although present on this image, is much better defined there.
The clarity shown in the L. & R. edges, I presume, is there in the red inside of the fruit, but it's that sort of "liquid" area that doesn't lend itself to "sharpness". Given that that area is in the same plane as the edges, I believe it is "sharp".
I agree with you in the respect of the foremost, cut edge of the fruit, the boundary between purple & white: it is not sharp, simply because I ran out of D.O.F.!

Thanks for looking & your encouraging, constructive comments.

None of it looks particularly sharp to me....

I can see what AG means, the resized version displayed here isn't very sharp, but the click-through larger version is much better. The burn out highlights at the top of the fruit are a bit too prominent for me, and causes a bit of a glowing halo up there which gives the impression of softness.

The burnt out ground is quite bright too

Nice fig though even if personally I don't find the insides of figs very photogenic - too wormy-looking! I don't look at the insides when I'm eating one
