this subject has already been touched in one of the threads. This card has been around for a while now.

I personally do not see any sense in getting one, unless you have specific use for it. I remember somewhere around here or might have been in another forum being discussed that probably good idea for event photographers or wedding photographers who want to have easy and prompt access to images shot immediately to the laptops to be vewed by guests.
Otherwise I prefer to take my images and finish the shoots and then sit with the card on my pc and start the reviewing and post processing work. Personally I hate to snap a few and check on the laptop, then go back and snap again and keep checking. For that I have tried tethering, but not my cup of tea either.

Just think about the possible usage charges if you are shooting RAW and it transmits everything.

With a 2Mb link you would be seeing 100 seconds per image. Rather slower than you can take pictures.

The card would be taking power continuously - say for 100 pictures it would be on for around 2 hours transmitting data using power from the battery which would soon be depleted.

I do weddings and events and actually have a prom this evening. I did have a look at the link and thought it was a good idea, but it would be of no benefit to me.

At an event you want the pictures onto the laptop for a bit of prep before the client sees it. A little tidying up. So I take the card out of the camera and upload it, (these are high quality J-pegs as there is no need for RAW at an event like this).

Then once they have been sorted I load the images onto 2 other laptops for showing. The first laptop is wired up to my pro dye sub. People then place the orders and I print.

Very long winded explanation there, but I would see no benefit in this whatsoever as speed is the essence.

I can see the benefit - cutting out the wear caused by plugging and unplugging the card or USB cable, but being that slow hardly justify it.

I'd say it's nature's way of telling you you are too lazy and too rich.

I replace my cards every 6 months maybe less so that doesn't, personally, bother me.

I assumed he was talking about wear on the card slot in the camera

Either the card slot if you take the card out to put in a reader, or the USB plug if you use the cable to download photos.
