Wide Angle?

Definitely - if it's in reasonable nick I always go for used. If it turns out to be not what you were after, you can sell it on with little loss, or maybe a small profit - either way it's risk free.

Following what Simon said I am aware there can be QA issues with this particular lens and its probably why I'd rather buy one new if possible as I'd hate to have problems with a seller if I thought the 10-20 wasn't right, I guess buying from somewhere like Ffords or Mifsuds used then I'd have some comeback.

Cheers for that, thats only £20 more than the used one at LCE that I've seen and probably only £40 more than other used examples, also I believe the F4 model is better than the newer more expensive one, might give that a bash now, was baulking at £400 new but £340 seems very good.

Well I'm close to ordering the Special Offer Sigma 10-20 today from SRS, but has anyone used the Tamron 10-24? and if so what were your thoughts, seems obviously a slightly larger range albeit more expensive.

I got one a year or so ago, i like it, but i'm not going to say i dont like it because i spent my money on it, the same as people who spent their money on the sigma wont say that they dont like the sigma, if that makes sense.

At the ultra wide end focal length is not much of a guide on angle of view (what you get in the image!)
The Pentax 10-17 gives a much wider AOV than the Sigma 10-20 when both are at 10mm. From what I've heard the Pentax & Sigma are complimentary despite the apparently overlapped ranges.

Unless I can get a copy of the sigma for under half price there's little chance of me investigating this for myself though. (Sorry no experience of the Tamron either)

Well after a trek around some Post Offices I finally got it! Probably won't get a chance to have a proper play until next wee though
