There are 2 off these on that well known auction site right now from the same seller.Quote:

I know what you mean John, I'd like to see some more affordable longer lenses to use on my K200.At the moment we're more in need of longer lenses than 300mm and the choice is not brilliant. We're taking our time to get the right opportunity for the right lens.

And this one.

My sentiments entirely. The K10 does everything I ask of it, rather spend money on a lens or another wireless flash.

I have been tempted ever since I saw the MP-e 65.Isn't that exactly what the manufacturers do though, tempt us.
Have even thought of buying something like a 20/30D just for that lens but imagine it with a 18mp crop sensor

Well you did say you would prefer a long lens over a K-7 ... just about the same price so whats the problem

I've just ordered mine from SRS. Awaiting its arrival. I'll keep my K10 for backup since I've been coaxed out of retirement by a friend to photograph his wedding in October. At my age it'll take that long to get to grips with the new K7. CHEERS Vic.
Born again biker with lots of Pentax bits. Every day I wake up is a good day. I'm so old I don't even buy green bananas.

I purchsed mine back in July and for my main type of photography which is aviation it was a step up from the K20 (the other half uses one now) but not quite the leap I thought it would be in terms of FPS. Having said that it is quicker than the K20 and I have got some images which I might not have got with the K20.
I was impressed with the weather sealing, in fact I stood in the rain and took a picture of the Vulcan taxi-ing back with a B52...there aren't many photos of that...I wonder why?
But at the moment it is back at Pentax UK courtesy of SRS with a damaged sensor. I used it for a week in August with no problems and a couple of weeks ago noticed some "dust spots" on my images at the same place with different lenses. I took it back to SRS and they confirmed it was damaged so they sent it back for Pentax UK to have a look. Chris did warn me though that the last K20 that went back the sensor was not repaired under warranty so watch this space...I had the K20 for about a year and have never had any problems with the sensor on that whilst making lens changes.

Well,
I am not sure what do to, if buy the K7 or go for the Fa 31, I found a black one for a reasonble price, I feel I need an alternative for the 16-50.
Anyway It`s an hard decision at the moment but soon or later I will buy the K7.

That's a shame, my K10D sensor is damaged but I know full well that was my own fault (too heavy handed with a rocket blower). Can't see how it can be possible to cause damage while making a lens change though. But at the moment it is back at Pentax UK courtesy of SRS with a damaged sensor. Hopefully it will get fixed under warranty but there does seem a lot of K-7s going back for one thing or another. (I know we only tend to hear of the problems and not the good things but even so.)

The shutter is closed and the sensor covered when changing lenses, so damage at that point does seem rather unlikely.

Wandered into PC World and Currys to have handle of K7 ...neither had any..seems on line purchase only. Had a gra at Canon 40D not bad kit and a sony ..somehow did look or feel right .
Am hanging on for a slight drop in price and will use SRS as you guys recommend .
One question ..are converters worth while to get more out of lens ?

Converters will do nothing for quality. I've not found a good one yet, although I am currently looking at an old Pentax one. Even this doesn't excite me so far!

Just to go back to this, I was using a 17-70 for my first image of the day with no problems. I changed the lens in a dust free enviroment to the 60-250mm and from the second image the spots appeared The shutter is closed and the sensor covered when changing lenses, so damage at that point does seem rather unlikely.
I thought at the time that something was up as when I carried out the Dust Alert function it showed the sensor was clear but the spots were still appearing. So somehow something got onto the sensor and caused it some damage.

It may have been in the camera or in the back of the lens and ended up on the sensor after an exposure was made?
Best regards, John

At the moment we're more in need of longer lenses than 300mm and the choice is not brilliant. We're taking our time to get the right opportunity for the right lens.
As it is a new body is still a few years away for me.
K110+DA40, K200+DA35, K3 and a bag of lenses, bodies and other bits.
Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...
PPG entries.
