I like them both very much but I think I prefer the second, you've really captured the feel of moonlight but to be really picky I like the viewpoint of the first more.
It must be a bit unusual for you to be pointing in the opposite direction.

What a great prize, and two very interesting images. On inital glance I was drawn to the first image, the sun breaks the hard line between the sky & sea making the image softer. Although on final viewing I prefer the second, having the wider composition and the feeling movement in the sky.

I think that it's the moon - I do agree, however, that it is a cracking image

Both are lovely, but I do prefer the second. I especially like the movement in the clouds.

No. 2 for me too. The colour of the first is impressive but the second picture packs more drama - and I just love that sky.

Thanks for the comments everyone...personally the 2nd is my favourite, it's a 104s exposure and the shadows have been lifted slightly in ACR to show a little more detail in the buildings...
Ken...yes, it was a bit strange seeing the sun rise from the sea rather than behind 3000ft mountains - quite enjoyed the change too
