Whispering through the Weerribben

A couple of weeks ago we spent the day with grandsons and their dad. We hired fluisterboten (whisper boats) and explored a corner of the Weerribben National Park for a few hours. The boats have a small electric outboard, and so are allowed into areas other powered boats are not.

All the photos were taken with the Pentax 18-135, the stork photos have been cropped somewhat.

Merlijn, the older grandson, used my K-5ii for a couple of photos too (not shown here). Strap safely around his neck, he picked up the camera, left hand automatically supporting it under the lens. What a pro.

Reflection shot is great, but I *really* love the characters coming through in 'Een appeltje voor de dorst' and the final 'charismatic family shot'. Quality (and really charming) captures of the family.

Thanks everyone. I've printed #2 out and put it on my photo wall.

I was amazed that the 18-135 managed to lock onto the storks and produce passable results tbh. I had debated using the 17-70for the trip but in the end we were late leaving so I left the 18-135 on. The 17-70 would have been hopeless for the birds.
