M42 lens to K body is easy and common, there are always loads of them on ebay, you just have to watch out for a few of the cheap knock off ones which loose infinity focus.
K lens to M42 body can't be done without either using an optical adaptor which functions as a short teleconverter, or loosing infinity focus. I believe both of these have been manufactured at one time or another, but they are rare and not overly useful.

Thanks for the reply Mongoose,
By loosing infinity focus, is this because of the thickness of the adapter,if not why does this happen

Yes, Some of the cheaper adapters have a flange on them and this causes the lens to sit proud of the mount. A better quality adapter will sit flush with the mount and allow you too achieve infinty focus

exactly correct. Unfortunately because the K mount is larger than M42, it is impossible to build a K lens to M42 body adaptor which sits flush to the mount.les wrote:

I wasn't quite clear which way around you were looking for, so I thought I'd better describe both.

Be very wary of the cheap ones.
It's easy to get the adaptor stuck in the camera.
A mini jeweller's screwdriver will help you remove it but take extra care that you don't catch the internal workings of the camera.
The Pentax version used to come with a special tool to remove the adaptor, I can't recall seeing one for a while.

This one i believe is the genuine article.
As peter says you don't see too many of them and it comes with the tool to insert and remove it.
