The whole point about P-TTL is to communicate with other guns off-camera.
If you're just going to use one flashgun, and don't want to use it in Manual, buy either an AF-280T or an AF-400T.
Both are regularly on Ebay.

No, that's the point. If you are only going to use ONE flashgun, there is little point in having P-TTL. (In my view - others will no doubt disagree.)
The two I mentioned have a built-in sensor which cuts the light when there's enough.
So you have the advantage of exposure automation without the complexity and delay of P-TTL.

The Metz, the Sigma is a 3 way head I beleive but the Metz is only 2 way
