How much is it after that?

I use Fast stone, so the raw conversion is not very good then? I had never heard of Serif of Nottinghams Photoplus X7 is it like lightroom, or is lightroom better?
I've used Serif products for years (they also sell excellent DTP software) and find PhotoPlus has all the capabilities most photographers want or need. Photoshop and Elements now sit on my computer unused. Lightroom seems to be popular with folk on this site and I've no doubt it's excellent, with far better cataloguing facilities. But I've yet to see any photo editing techniques that can't be achieved with Serif's product. It's very close to Photoshop in design. Once you've bought PhotoPlus, you're given a substantial discount on subsequent versions. The K-3 isn't mentioned in Serif's raw-compatibility list but all the other Pentaxes and Samsung equivalents are. It would work a treat with the excellent GX-20 still available in the classified section.

LOL.. No, version 8 free forever if you get it before the end of February. Not that it's only free to use till the end of February.

DNG is supported.
Lens modules are downloaded on demand.
Try it before you complain about free software.

I pay the monthly Adobe subscription and don't really notice the £8 a month. I also use dxo 8 some bits are good some bits are a bit clunky but I do love the sharpening and lens correction.

Lightroom all the way here. The combining of it's cataloguing and editing features is superb. It would take me 20 times as long to edit pics on something like Photoshop or it's ilk

+1 on this from me. The speed really attracts me, as well as the focus on photo development, rather than photo manipulation.

+1 me too! I've tried quite a lot of other software but keep coming back to Lightroom!

I'm a Lightroom user too, I'm just used to it and for the most part know what I'm doing. But you can't beat the price of DxO Optics Pro v8 for someone who wants cheap

Some says it's better than Lightroom. For free, it sure is.
Unmissable opportunity for those wanting an upgrade from the Pentax cameras bundled software. I personally very much like the DxO Optics Pro 8 Elite, its abilities and how nicely it co-operates with my K-5. It does the job absolutely fine and fits perfectly in the "mid range solution around the 100 quid mark at most" requirement, which the original poster is looking for

This in the Guardian today, covering many of the programs mentioned...

Many programs are a lot cheaper once you own an earlier version as for myself with Serif Photoplus X7 usually pay about £30 for a new edition. The paid for ones tend to patch more regularly.

I'm an Adobe £8 a month user too, Photoshop/Lightroom. I'm a keen Photo Club member and the 'best editing software' discussion often crops (pardon the pun) up. Many of our members use only a fraction of the functions offered by most editing programs. Most commonly folk strive to achieve acceptable shots straight out of the camera, but some are serious image manipulators and explore their programs to their outer limits.

My point is, that if you are not interested in workflow systems and your editing is limited to brightness/contrast, cropping and sharpening, then there is little point in digging deep for high end software.

Lightroom would be better for this then Adobe photoshop Elements then?
