I wonder how old that reply is? Probably from pre-K-1 days.
Is Sebastian the CAT?
It's already been stated that the flagship will be a completely new camera and not a further development of the K-3 although the size will be almost the same.

I'm surprised you not knowing that John, they have to get the sensors flat. You wouldn't want a curved sensor............or would you!?

Regarding the original post.
With all the wonderful dedicated APS-C lenses Pentax have, it would be a shock to me if a new ASP-C camera wasn't produced. I guess they are working on longer product cycles, perfectly natural with the maturing technology.

I thought it would amuse.
It states on the support reply page that the case will be open for 21 days if I have any further questions. I doubt I'd get any further.
I sent it to be curious and cheeky. This is what I got back. No idea what nationality the 'planed' chap is. I guess its a Google translate.

Even if they have a new camera coming next week, do you really think they could tell you before its official announcement? Sebastian would be in line for the sack for reporting out of turn if he knows (which I doubt.)
The person who might know would be the Ricoh president, Shinobu Takahashi, who was to have judged that photo competition run through SRS by Mid March but as of writing no announcement has been made.
So if they can't announce things they should have done by now, what chance of announcing something else?!

i once contacted Pentax UK about the possibility of spares existing for a 40 year old lens. I got a very odd answer requesting I send it in for repair "under warranty"
Pentax satellite offices have always been hopeless. Take it with a pinch of salt.

Surely you are well aware, John, that the shutter has to be planed in the focal !

Joking aside, the guys who flew and operated those cameras did an amazing job given the technology and circumstances they found themselves in. Given the moans on this forum about AF speed, ISO sensitivity, and the like, hanging over the side with a glass plate camera over the battlefield must have been horrendous.
