Grey Wagtail, Reso.

Chiffchaff - a warbler: smaller and, apart from its white eye-stripe, of an unremarkable appearance. A welcome sight nonetheless.

But with a distinctive song - high-pitched chiff-chaff, chiff-chaff (or slight variant), repeated until it gets bored. Easier to hear than to see - hear the song then try to find where it's coming from.

And unless it is calling difficult to differentiate a chiffchaff from a willow warbler... feathers, beak and colouring is the same but legs are quite different....

A point of clarification: it was not my intention to label the delightful chiffchaff 'unremarkable' in absolute terms, but merely by contrast with the more colourful, and equally delightful, grey wagtail.

Just thought I owed it to all my feathered friends, I can lay no claim to any other kind 🥺, to make my feelings crystal clear.

Suitably chastened of Wanborough, Wilts.
