Hate it when that happens

Nice set though, great lens the 150-450mm.

Nice set, I particularly like the vole, what’s a cutey!

There is a dead tree near me where I have seen Greater Spotted Woodpeckers nesting, but not in the last couple of years but I keep checking in hope.

I captured a GSW at this location back on the 5th Dec last year, only got about 10 seconds to compose and shoot and was hoping for another opportunity, I'll just have to go back on another occassion.

Sharp, detailed and well photographed.

A good set. You made very good use of the time.

Best regards

Nice set Chris.
We have a spotted woodpecker visit our seed feeder most days at present. (I have one or two piccies but they are not taken with Pentax gear).
He also wakes us up from time to time having a drill on or TV aerial that reverberates through the house!!

Great set - you must be pleased with your patience and with the lens.

I too specially like the vole. Years ago we had a small colony of them in a neglected part of our garden. They used to come out to eat some of the crumbs we spread for the birds. Sadly, some neighbour's predatory cat exterminated the whole colony in a week or so, and we have never had voles since then.

The vole is ten times the value of a woodpecker to my mind. You got your time's worth just with that one shot (the others are pretty good too!).
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Back to the woodland hide yesterday, not much, no GSW again, a Wren showed for 2 minutes plus a few Blue Tits, the vole showed for 30 seconds, but to much low undergrowth for him to hide under.

All K1 with the 150 - 450 @ 450mm and f8 - 800 ISO

Thanks John, yes its being able to get out and about and pursue my passion and be away from conference calls and a computer screen.

All lovely but the vole is my favourite. We have a LSW visiting our bird feeder but if doesn't make for satisfying photos.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.
