I actually will probably never use that feature.
Pentax K-5, Tamron 17-50, Tamron 70-300, Metz 50 AF-1 flash, and working on buying more lenses in the future. It never ends.

I'm not into all the bell's and whistles!...the only way I would change my K20 would be if Pentax produced a camera with better image quality.....as yet they haven't,so I'll stick with what I have.....

My little review////////it is not as pleasing to look at as the K20,it is very "Square" at the back!.......the screen is too big, what you gain in size is lost in "smudge" from your nose and thumbs!......and last but not least, the lack of camera leaves me very little to hold with my left hand!
beginner wrote:
The K20 is too small for me...thats why I always use the grip.....without the grip and the DA300 on the front it is horrible to hold,so I hate to think what the K7 must be like,I'll just stick to it's larger cousin!..

I would stick with the K20D if it was me!..........not a patch on your usual efforts!....I suppose you could always do some Macro video ,,,,good luck with the K7,you might get better with practice..........Ken

I handled one !, much prefered my K20!,It's way too small and "Square for me!
I think we get the general idea now Ken

Can you tell I'm bored

Thanks James there aren't too many of us around

Regarding your lens, if zooms are your thing, you could split your current focal range and go for the excellent DA 17-70 f/4 ( or the DA* 16-50 f/2.8 ) and the equally nice DA* 60-250 f/4

Pretty much what I was thinking, although the QC issues I have been reading about on other forums kind of scare me with the 16-50. But the 17-70 sounds perfect. Now, just need to save my pennies.
Thanks, man!

Simply not use it, having it in your camera or not will not effect any of your photography or does anyone have prove that it does?

I actually wouldn't worry too much about QA with the DA* 16-50 now, I'm sure they would have sorted the problems by now.

My copy is a fine lens, capable of very sharp images with great contrast and colour in the sweet spot (more of an area really) of the aperture range.

Doesn't the extra wiring on the sensor and other overheads compromise the still image? or was I dreaming I read that somewhere?

I noticed LCE have (on their website) a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 in their Guilford branch for £240. Decent price considering you get warranty.

On second thoughts not much good considering your location

I thought a video capable sensor was the reason that the K-7s noise capability was being hampered. I also read the same thing with the Nikon D300 and D300s

Good to know. I just googled the lenses you mentioned. I think the 17-70 will be a better fit for me anyway, not to mention quite a bit cheaper!

hi
great to hear you're enjoying your K7, I guess you may be into landscapes from the location you've posted
but you really need some pentax lenses to really show what this camera can do.
and try not to roll onto the K7 when you take it to bed

we're all suckers for PENTAX gear.

enjoy

Are you saying there is something wrong with sleeping with your camera?

Yes there are now 4 read out channels instead of 2 but that also allows for extra FPS with stills so you can't blame the video function directly for the extra wires, or would you rather have 2.9 fps of the K20D instead of the 5.2 fps of the K7?

I don't know if it really effect the IQ btw, since it can read out the info more quickly instead of keeping it in the sensor...
