Am I correct in thinking that the subject matter is retro objects rather than items that just happen to be old photographed in a retro way :

You are indeed correct, and I'm hoping that what I wrote in the competition thread (copied above for reference) is how this is also being interpreted.

I seem to be labouring under a misapprehension here - I thought RETRO meant anything new - designed or created in an old fashioned way as an homage.

Tony - my thoughts as well, which is one reason why I haven't entered (yet) as I cannot locate anything suitable. I'm not certain than more than a couple of entries meet that requirement so far.

The BMW Mini is my idea of Retro. It's a new design based on the shape of the old BMC Mini. If your lava lamp is new but made to and old design I would not call it retro.

Actually no bottles involved. My argument being that a BMC mini made now is a reproduction, not a retrospective
