I was hoping to find where all the scooters were going that I passed on the road. A modern retro Vespa would have been ideal if 'nmodded' up and if teh owners were there too perfect!

Used most of the year as transport to and from work at Sissinghurst before little Chloe came along - great fun - I had it for a month before it was given just to restore and test its safety.
I keep both volumes of the Shorter OED just by my desk at all times along with Partridge and my Dictionary of Quotations.
So all those retro bakelite phones and retro radios and gramophones that play CDs are not retro either ?
I have a great recipe for tongue as well !!

No, I'd have thought the modern bakerlite phones were retro in that they use modern technology behind an old fashioned façade. But what do I know?
I have been tempted by kit cars but so far I have resisted. I may have a go one day having bob tailed a Range Rover and begun to understand how things hang together (as well as accumulated some handy pals). It was the fake Karmann Ghia (spelling?) that appealed most of all. Trouble is the older engines offer appalling fuel economy so that anything VW based is a non starter.

So old articles are not retro, that eliminates most entries at a stroke. Old style photos are not retro objects which eliminates most of the others leaving I reckon possibly 4 entries that meet i-berg's criteria. But obviously while correct it is not practical and I don't expect that criteria to be applied as it would ruin the fun of the competition which is what it's about.
