there was to be a charity book to sell all these but the site says they are on hold until all copyright is cleared (that of the photographers not the subject I assume!)

Jeez, can we not have a single thread that doesn't descend into politics?

It wasn't the picture, it was the remark prior to my last one. I don not feel there is any benefit into dragging party politics and those sort of comments into a photography forum, however they were meant.

(I actually quite liked the picture).

You were referring to my comment of course. My comment was NOTHING to do with party politics, in fact nothing to do with any politics. My remarks were regarding the subjects in the pic of which I am repulsed by.

And yes despite the repulsiveness of the people in the picture, it was a funny pic.

Would you have made the same complaint had the pic just been of the looters and someone had called them lowlife?

You make it political by putting your opinion in via a comment on something else. It's not part of what PU is about, so please refrain.

My comments on the photo are nothing to do with politics.

The comment by paulgee20 in the second post which said "Typifies just how far away from reality they are!" is actually political as it refers to the distance politicians have from reality. Are you asking him to refrain from that?

I'm not getting into a political discussion. It's unfortunate that the most innocent post can trigger quite a lot of off topic noise and there are quite a few members who don't like this much when it happens. PU is one of the few havens for photography discussion without too much irrelevant stuff to dilute it, and that's how we'd like it to stay.

How someone can post a photo like the one above, and use a Conservative Party slogan in the title, and not expect political comments is beyond me

If the photo can be taken in fun, so can Smeggy's comment which is a play on words, and might refer to all politicians, rather than just Tory ones.

Perhaps threads with political content should be clearly labelled, so members whose minds might implode if they read political opinions that they do not share, can avoid them?

The simple forum rule is that we don't do politics and religion. Obviosusly there has to be some leeway, but we've managed very well so far keeping to the subject - photographic discussion that is of interest to Pentax Users and/or related to Pentax.

I do not object to people's political opinions, but I don't want them on the forum. All it would take is for a replying comment stating that it was the last government's fault and we have a full blown argument.

In fact this thread has already turned into an argument simply because of a perceived political remark being made. Which is exactly why I feel they should be avoided.
