I don't really watch a lot of TV as i often am unable to find anything I want to watch. Anyway, came across
this TV programme which will be aired on BBC4 on Thursday the 26 Jan at 21:00. just thought i would inform anyone who may be interested.

Drama which explores the explosive love affair between David Bailey and Jean Shrimpton. Winter 1962, and cockney photographer Bailey and unknown model Shrimpton are sent to New York for a prestigious Vogue photo shoot. What follows is a wild week, a love affair, terrible fights with their fashion editor, and how two young people with no such intention happened to change the world of fashion forever.

Thanks... it's worth a look even though Bailey and Shrimpton
will be played by actors.

Repeated at 1am on the Friday.

David Bailey has been a hero of mine for as long as I can remember.
I have had the unique pleasure of meeting and talking to both him and the late Terence Donovan on different
occassions and found them both to be self effacing, unpretentious genius's.
However I have been present when DB has been in a mischevious mood and has ripped the p*ss mercilessly from all around him.
Watch him with Rankin on Youtube.
I'm surprised I can't find an autobiography or even biography about him.
We have now lost two out of the terrible trio so lets hope we can enjoy the prescence of DB for as long as possible.

Just watched it! Oh to see that Spotmatic that changed everything in the sixties. I was in my late teens then and believe me Pentax was cool!

I knew it was on, so recorded it. And then watched it when I got back.

The Mighty Spotmatic with the Super Takumars. Yummy!
It may create a minor resurgence of Pentax interest, especially if repeated on BBC1/2.
Downside might be increase in Super Tak lenses and M42 converters, so get buying those lenses whilst you can........

On another note, he did use another camera I have, the Rolleiflex Automat. Could'nt tell if it was a Zeiss F2.8 or a Schneider F3.5 model though.

This was Bailey's ES used in a Pentax advert. He sanded the
black off to show the brass link

Superb programme, laughed an awful lot and I thought the girl who played Jean Shrimp[ton was fantastic.
Nice to see Pentax at the forefront, even with a mention.

What a bitch that Lady C was.
The documentary afterwards was fascinating. Did anybody else notice the superb still lifes that this man is producing?

Quote:
This vintage advert dates from the early 1970s. It was part of a series in which famous people's Pentax cameras were used as an example of much used and loved cameras. This is legendary photographer David Bailey's very heavily used Pentax ES. I recall that Mick Jagger's was another used in the campaign.
Time for a new ad campaign with the old vintage advert on the left, namedropping David Bailey's ES, Mick Jagger's Spotmatic etc, and a modern version on the right, with David Attenborough's K7, Paris Hylton's Q, Bear Gryll's K-01 etc....

I like the idea, although Paris Hilton with her Q might put some people off. But then again it might encourage those celeb wannabe's to get one, which happened with Hilton's Chihuahua

All I remeber of David Bailey was his endorsement of the Olympus Trip

Been lurking for a couple of years now, but had to join just so I could say, 'David Bailey, who's he?' Sorry, but I just couldn't restrain myself. (Am I giving my age away). By the way, is John Riley a reincarnation of the Buddha. I've never visited such a well moderated and chilled forum as this, the mans knowledge is compendious. Maximum respect John.
As for me, all I know is that I know nothing.

Paris Hilton's Q? That's half an IQ, presumably.
