Think it would be better in b&w

B&W might be good. We have just had something similar in a club competition and it worked very well in monochrome.
Also, think about a crop of either the left or right side (probably right) to move the fancy metalwork off-centre.
No reason why it should not be a tall and narrow image, is there?

It's in focus so no I don't think so.Is Pentax Expert back?
I agree this could work well in black and white. I actually like it. It is the sort of detail most people ignore.

oh the irony - I was going to use the black and white version but thought the colour of the wood was nice and it would loose something for the B&W version.
OK just nade another copy of the B&W , increased contrast and cropped. will upload in a few mins - see which folks prefer.
Thanks for all the feedback
Steve you need to get out more and I need to post less late at night - I did try to go back and edit but seems one can't edit one's own posts on this forum ..... what's that about then ? *shrugs*

I can't look at this image as a whole because I have to scroll up and down to see it all. Is that the fault of my screen resolution, or the size of the image?

@Judderman - I prefer the colour version for the colour of the wood.
@Frankie - the long side is 1024pixels, so it's the photo, not your screen

I'm torn but lean towards the colour for same reason.
I'm guessing there's a FAQ I should go read re image sizes ... those were too big weren't they

I too prefer the colour version.
800 pixels on the longest size is the norm for photos posted in the forum. I believe it is mentioned in the sticky in the your photos section.

Thanks for resizing the image. I've never posted a photo so didn't know about the sizes. I prefer the B & W but some of the light reflection on the door is a little bit distracting though I'm not sure what you can do about that. Would it benefit from some burning around the edges to put more emphasise onto the main subject?
