As far as i know, amazon would be making payment to seller. Seller would never get your card details.
I think the scam part is in the please contact us before ordering bit, as in if you were to contact them they would probably ask to deal direct with them and cut amazon out of the picture altogether and you would lose any protection you would have otherwise.
I could be wrong but i think youll find that a payment request was never sent to amazon from seller.

Be careful of a similar new Ama-zon seller, LK-WEB MEDIA who wants you to contact them before purchase. You really can't buy a brand new K-1 body from a dealer for less than £1300 to my knowledge!
They close down one rogue seller and another name immediately replaces it.

Well folks here we are again. I've just had an email from Amazon. My order has been cancelled and my card has NOT been charged. So it goes to prove it's better to make any orders through Amazon and not direct with the seller that way the seller doesn't get your card details or your money until they let Amazon know that the article has been dispatched.
SO I didn't get a bargain BUT all's well that ends well.
Let this be a lesson to you all. Don't be greedy like me.

Thank goodness for that. Amazingly that same seller was listing that same lens for the same price over the weekend just gone. I wonder how many follow the unofficial request to email them first and subsequently fall prey to the conman.
I think Amãzon should make good any seller's promises where their clients are repeat offenders. That might make them a little more responsive to dealing with fraud on their site.
