Walimex Pro lenses

Googling a Samyang TS 24 mm lens Pentax fit on Amazon UK comes up with a "used - as new" offer at £300 + 5.99 delivery from Bellseal Ltd. with the following explanation: "The product was used only for advertising purposes in my store, and the price is so low because has been unpacked-,full warranty, full accessories New,never,used-Before buying let me know here". Now, funnily enough, exactly the same description is given for a Walimex Pro tilt-shift lens but at £400.00 + delivery which are listed at around £1000 new elsewhere so too good to be true?

Has anyone come across Walimex Pro lenses? They look identical to the Samyang ones but much more expensive.

Wallimex lenses are rebadged Samyangs. Also labelled Rokinon amongst others.

I've seen that 'used only for advertising purposes' on Am-azon quite a lot including Pentax branded ones. Maybe its a ruse to sell below a manufacturer's/importer's recommended price. £300 is a pretty good price for that tilt shift.
I now own two Samyangs and am quite impressed with both.

Curiously the same Amazon dealer Bellseal Ltd has several other "used - as new" Pentax lenses at big discounts, eg the DA 300mm for £500.00+ postage. Pick your lens, if it has a used offer chances are this site features. Everything on his site has the same description "The product was used only for advertising purposes in my store....".. Yet if you google the name it is a bath seal business. So, is it kosher? Perhaps Vic will let us know if and when he gets his order.

Scam, but cleverly done.

If it is a scam? then I should be covered by Amazon and I also paid with a credit card so hopefully I'm covered there too.
If it is a scam I'm going to be a little RED FACED.
I'll be round to give Rob a good wrist slapping for putting it up in the first place.
You'd think Amazon would check these companies out before letting then on their website.
I'll let you all know what happens. CHEERS Vic.

As I said in my first post I wondered if this offer was too good to be true and put this on the forum to see if what others thought, so sorry you jumped in a bit too quick Vic. It turns out to have been worthwhile as Amazon is a frequently used source for kit and like everyone else assume it is reliable. Hope you have the last laugh and post a photo of said lens, or otherwise get your money back.

Perhaps the lens was used to take commercial photographs?

Have they given you a postage tracking number yet? If not ask for it.
Reading that thread does make it sound a little ominous and probably worth reporting to your credit card company immediately, Ama-zon and the local police and possibly trading standards. It doesn't really sound likely you'll be getting that lens. Did you pay via the normal Ama-zon checkout system?
(Sorry to hyphenate Ama-zon each time but I don't like it coming out in red - they don't deserve the credit for that as this case exemplifies. Or is it, buy at Ama-zon and see red?)

Just to clarify here Vic, the company is a legitimate one, only their Ama-zon account has been hacked - possibly the company had a too easy to guess password or the hijackers broke Ama-zon's security and stole the account details (as happened to TalkTalk, Yahoo, eBay etc.)

Looks like Bellseal is gone from Amazon. Now Cava Angel!

I have to say I could easily have fallen for this recently. I identified a bargain lens that tickled my fancy but didn't rush to buy it. I investigated Bellseal and found they were a real firm with a physical shop though thought it odd that a building supply firm were selling Pentax lenses so thought I would phone them first to make sure about it. They could have done it as a sideline or purchased the lenses for the stated purpose, advertising. By the time I went to phone the firm I found the lens had been sold so I took it no further. A near miss.
Vic, have you contacted Amazon (yes, let's see red about this) and your credit card co. yet? Quicker the better.
