Users map?

I agree Gwyn, it would be useful, but we can't insist and many don't want to or don't think to.
Best regards, John

I realise that John. It's nice to know where people are, but I can understand why people want to keep that sort of thing private, even when it is a vague as a county.

John and Gwyn, I think you might have slightly misunderstood the proposal. Joining in "users map" would remain voluntary, not obligatory as you seem suggest, and such feature would not be more "insisting" than "Location" information placed below members' names. Actually I think "users map" would be even more respectful for members' privacy, if information about members locations would rather be moved to the map and kept there instead of being revealed below members' names in the forum threads. Just to make clear once again - no postcodes, no street numbers would be involved, just name of place/country and graphical presentation of this. Is it really that dangerous and discouraging?

No one is suggesting it would be compulsory. I said I'd be happy if people filled in their location. A map would be good, though I have no idea how you would do it. Registering your county/country is far less intrusive, and easier than placing your vague location on a map.

Very nice. I tried to add myself to the map but was then unable to save the edited version.

Any chance of a quick 'how to' for this tool?

And, ideally, something where access is restricted to members would be nice

Errrr, I'll have a look later (celebrating a birthday, not mine) , found it last night and I have two minutes experience

I think you add a point then edit the detail on the right and save on right too.

Go to edit map.
Third icon along on the bar is Create map point.
Choose your map point.
On the left give it a label.
Save map. You must notw the change made to the map to save it.

Seems to expand the view as you add points to it.

Yes it does. It will be interesting to see it if some of the Canadians or Aussies add their labels to it.
Of course you can still zoom in on an area you are interested in.

And no, I don't live in the palace I tagged.

I'm on it! This map is great, thanks for finding it. Now, anyone else would like to join us?
