No, but in that 'episode' he does due to a series of unforeseen events and strange goings on.

And now, from Wikipedia:

"László Bíró, a Hungarian newspaper editor, was frustrated by the amount of time that he wasted in filling up fountain pens and cleaning up smudged pages, and the sharp tip of his fountain pen often tore his pages of newsprint. Bíró had noticed that the type of ink used in newspaper printing dried quickly, leaving the paper dry and smudge free. He decided to create a pen using the same type of ink. Since, when tried, this viscous ink would not flow into a regular fountain pen nib, Bíró, with the help of his brother George, a chemist, began to work on designing new types of pens. Bíró fitted this pen with a tiny ball in its tip that was free to turn in a socket. As the pen moved along the paper, the ball rotated, picking up ink from the ink cartridge and leaving it on the paper. Bíró filed a British patent on 15 June 1938."

I'd take this outside but, it is too windy. I need 0.5s to 2s exposures with the current light to get a decent shot. I wish I had a flash.

I found a ruler, so I can now work out the total magnification

Lets see... The K10D's sensor is 23.5mm x 15.7mm and the picture below is 2mm top to bottom.

15.7/2 = 7.85

7.85x magnification!

You could get a job with Sigma any day. They use sticky tape in their lenses, too.

On the topic of adapters I have taken a slightly different approach. I have a set of Cokin filters and adapters. So I screw on the filter holder adapters, one side was done like it is supposed to, the other adapter I slid in one of the filter holders. It's not bomb proof but held together well enough for some work on the table top. Only test shots so far. Here's one example with my Ricoh 50 mm reversed on the Sigma 105 mm. The square on the paper is 5 x 5 mm. The "vignetting" on the bottom is the shadow of the contraption (I used the desk lamp as lighting). No sharpening applied
