Tim?

On the one hand I want to applaud JR for the Herculean efforts he goes to in moderating the forum virtually single handed. We don't make it easy sometimes, with childish behaviour, myself included. Not that I'm leveling that criticism at Tim because it seems his initial offending post was entirely innocuous. However maybe sharing the burden a little more, with additional moderators, and a less unilateral approach, might be fairer for everyone. And I would urge John to relax and let things lie a bit more, perhaps wait for problems to be reported rather than monitoring things 24/7. Zapping leads to deals threads and excessive thread tidying can cause more problems than it solves IMHO.

This has all got a bit serious hasnt it. Seems to me that it has "kicked off" behind the scenes and due to understandable confidentiality we don't get to find out exactly what happened.

If JR were to tell us it would only be one side of the story anyway so whats the point? (may I add that I am not implying JR would fib- just give it as he saw it from his own point of view).

Whilst I dont really know Tim I think he is a member that certainly adds to the community here and he takes some lovely shots and makes some valuable contributions. The only comp i judged was won by him.

I think criticism of JR is inevitable- he is akin to a football referee- doing a job with little reward but being open to large wads of criticism from allcomers. The best referees acknowledge that they dont always get things right though.

Speaking as the recipient of one of your "special" PMs, may I suggest trying to nail yourself to Tim's cross would be a tad disingenuous.

Guys this is getting way out of hand - isn't it about time common sense prevailed?

What started out as genuine concerns being expressed is fast degenrating in to a free for all and helping nobody!

I am beginning to feel a little disillusioned about the forum.

Then I checked myself and realised that this is just a piffling little chat hole and life is too short.

Wow, this reminds me of the Scottish press reaction following most Scottish International games (OTT, little regard to the hard facts and it was the refs fault)

Have learnt a lot here, not just about Pentax gear, but also photography techniques in general.
These spats seem to rear up every 6 months or so,life goes on and they tend to get forgotten.

I'm gone for a day and see what happens...
First i thought that Tim and i did something again but no idea what this is now about...

Although Tim and I had some disagreements he did was patient most of the time, even with me.
So I'm also curious what happen...

Ken (Gartmore) is also a Mod I believe - at least his status is Pentax User Team.

I think it would be a good idea if the mods were listed somewhere - on the Community pages maybe? I just had a quick look at can't see them listed anywhere. Forgive me if I have that wrong.

Other forums of this size have several moderators - often a couple of them moderate a few sections and it is indicated in that section who the mods are.

It might be good if the others were a bit more hands on, so that JR doesn't get the brunt of the complaints and moaning thrown at him always.

Mattmatic is a mod as well i believe, not sure how active he is.
