Thumbnail Website Problems

Need help please.

I am trying to publish 70 images on our Fire Dep't Website. Just got given the job as one of my Photographer duties (Makes sense) However this is my first attempt at a Website and becoming a total pain in the arse.

The program they use is Adobe Contribute/CS3 (it includes Bridge CS3)

Please advise how I create Thumbnails of images that open up to full size images with one click on the Thumbnail.

I have spent lots of time trying to do this to no avail. I can slide a Thumbnail into Contribute, or a larger image (Contribute auto cuts the size down to their usable requirement) with no problem. I don't know how to link the two images together.
Have actually published two large images on the main site window with no problem.

The lady that used to do it has the Windows Version. I have a 30 day trial for now and am using the Mac Version. I just plug in the password info and I am on the Website and able to change things.
This lady doesn't remember how she got the Thumbnails to open when she last put images on the site about 18 months ago (Yes, they want a big update)

FYI. I mainly use Photoshop CS2, Aperture and iPhoto.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, RAG.

I've no idea what Adobe Contribute is, but the way I do it is:

<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
var win;
function showImage(img,w,h) {
var url = img;
windowName = "imagewin";
params = "";
params += "toolbar=0,";
params += "location=0,";
params += "directories=0,";
params += "status=0,";
params += "menubar=0,";
params += "scrollbars=1,";
params += "resizable=1,";
params += "width="+ (w + 10) +",";
params += "height="+ (h + 10);

if(!win) {
win = window.open(url, windowName, params);
win.focus(); }
else {
win.close();
win = window.open(url, windowName, params);
win.focus();
}
}
//-->
</script>

Then:

<a href="javascript:showImage('(image file)',(img file size in window, e.g. 500,375))"><img src="(thumbnail file name)" border="0"></a>

Ignore brackets where emboldened. HTH

take a look at JAlbum. It is freeware from www.jalbum.net

This is a page I created using it and there are a great many different skins.

Argee,

Thanks for the info, but it's all a foreign language to me, I have no idea how to do that. Surely there must be some easy way to do it on the program.

Thank for trying to help,

RAG.

Gartmore.

Thanks for the info, the program you mention looks good for my own use.

However I have to use Contribute as it is the Fire Dep't program. I am using the 30 day trial for now to see how I get along with it. Not so good so far.
If I can't resolve the Thumbnail issue they will have to continue making website changes with the Windows version at the office.
If it gets resolved then I will make changes from home and they will buy a S/N for me.

So far I have found no way to make a thumbnail open the full image on this program. One can only get help from Adobe with a purchase of the program.

Thanks again, RAG.

I've never used Contribute but I have come across trial versions of several products in the past which are "crippled" in one way or another. Is it possible that your (30 day limited) version may be missing the thumbnail creation part?

Thanks.

It's supposed to be the full version. I will call them tomorrow and find out.

Adobe have online help. Sounds like you need to create link to images from thumbnails & this is explained in the help.
