Three from Kosmo Foto Mono

One of the films in my latest Analogue Wonderland wonderbox was Kosmo Foto mono 100. It's quite contrasty and so using it in the snow was probably not the best plan, but it is very low grain. Here are three from the roll shot in the snow last weekend. I used one of my ME Supers and one of K30/2.8, K50/1.2 or an M100/2.8. Using the ME Super reminds of John Riley's comment about how smoothly they wind on.

It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head. Henri Cartier-Bresson
Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Very nice. I particularly like the last one. Highlights perhaps a bit to bright in the first but very nice compositions.

What you need are lenses, more lenses, bigger lenses, better lenses, faster lenses, vintage lenses and when you have these, your pictures will be perfect!

Kosmo Foto Mono, AKA Fomapan 100 with nicer packaging and a price-hike, is a very nice film which is unfortunately spoiled by being extremely curly, unless they've changed the way they make it in the last few years.

This wasn't especially curly, it went into the negative sleeves without any problems. These are commercial low res scans. It was one of the rolls in one of my Analogue Wonderland "wonderboxes." If you want curly, try Rollei RPX 25...

I like all three compositions, but the gate opening onto the tree in 3 is the real deal for me. And Its tones are spot on to my taste.

Oh dear, I've shot a couple of rolls of this and have a few more, but not tried to scan anything yet. It's very nice to be able to shoot at fairly wide apertures in summer sun on a manual camera that maxes out at 1/1000s.

I don't know whether the 35mm stuff is better, but the 120 was a nightmare. I was trying to do a fluid scan and it just kept pulling away from the glass. Nothing short of superglue would have held it flat. The Lomo magnetic neg holder worked OK once you had wrestled it into place, but getting the neg in the right place without damaging it was really tricky.

I decided to stick to Pan F and a filter...

That is a little contrasty isn't it! All really nice but the third is the stand out image for me
