All Pentax DSLR cameras have had the AF/MF switch in roughly the same place for the last 17 years.

If you are referring to disabling the AF button, all is revealed on pages 72-73. The manual is available as a PDF download. Hope that helps

Thank you. I was press the button labelled AF/AE-L on the right rear. The AF/MF control on the left front, I have never previously noticed.

The AF/AE-L button is dual purpose. It can be set to operate the AF, the same as a shutter half press, and this is known as back-button autofocus. It can also lock the exposure when using one of the auto exposure modes like P; Tv; Av etc. It will be customisable in the menu.
