How do you get so close to the flies! They always fly away for me!!
What makes these images stand out is the way the backgrounds compliment the subject and are neutral in terms of attention so the main focus is on the subject itself

excellent shots Derek. must start putting a flash in the bag.
ref your comment in Nigel's post about flash shutter speed, i get 180th with E/V adjustment set to 1/3 on my K5 11s so cannot see that being the reason you cannot get it unless it is a K3 thing

Have just changed to 1/2 steps and 180th is there now. not an option in 1/3 steps.excellent shots Derek. must start putting a flash in the bag.

Might be a K3 thing.
I know what i like, If not always why.

Pentax users like slow sync speeds They prefer the 1/60th and 1/75th of the MX and LX over the 1/250th of later cameras such as the Z-1
