This is like my early serial K-1. Instead of taking a picture I put it on LV to force open the shutter. It works!

Apart from the last firmware update (that simply allows use of some monstrously expensive lens) mine is up to date. I think it is a mechanical fault rather than an electronic one. I will try the LV button next time it happens.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Not just me then.... mine goes through phases just like that.... in spite of that 8 years on the camera is a joy to use and I took it to Venice with me last week rather than the D500/D850. Great for night time photography.

Mines been ok, I've not used it nearly as much in the past 12 months due to 6 months in rented then a full relocation and so far, no issues as described above.
