I haven't used a modern Pentax before so as you may imagine I am extremely impressed with the K5. There is just one thing (so far!) I don't like and that is the rubber cover over the computer terminals. It doesn't hinge up nicely but only allows a small angle opening with the rubber curved upwards in such a way it looks like it will soon rip off. I'm not sure how I will get my HDMI cable into it.
Am I doing something wrong? Is it poor design? Will it rip off before long?

Er Has anyone noticed that when you tilt a K5 to the left or right there is a sort of 'sliding' sound???

I never use the computer terminals so I am not worried about the rubber door. At least not until it rots. But maybe it isn't really rubber at all but something that looks like rubber but doesn't rot like rubber.
My main gripe is still how hard it is to fish the SD card out of the slot, but I'll get used to that.
Otherwise I am one very happy bunny.
If I had owned a K-7 I wouldn't have upgraded, but going from the K20D it is just perfect for me. The size and weight are great, it feels so right. Even with the Bigma on it it still feels balanced.
Most photos so far are of woods on very dull days, the dogs, and random snapshots whilst playing. I haven't done any serious photographing with it yet. I shan't be doing any serious testing with it.

Mine rattles too and yes the SD card neither goes in nor comes out particularly easily, but if that is the worse fault we can find...

Ditto, I use the same technique, one finger pushes down and flicks away the card pops out a little way then its easy enough to grab. Initially the card sometimes flew straight up and away but now it seems to catch at just the right point.

Either way, the card removal is a pain. I suppose if you have wee Japanese nimble fingers it's fine.
