Testing out the newly purchased AFA 1.7 teleconverter at Houston Zoo

I took the plunge and splashed out on the AFA 1.7 Teleconverter. I found one of eBay, but it was expensive! My reasoning is that because i have just bought the Sigma 70-200 OS f2.8 (which is a great lens, i have had a few problems with Sigma lens but this one is a beauty). This covers the 200mm f2.8 range so it makes the Pentax DA* 200mm I have got a little redundant (although as a prime it is awesome). By using the AFA 1.7 teleconverter I would get a 340mm f4.5 prime. That was too much temptation! I was just scared at laying out that money and getting soft pics. Well.........the verdict?? Very satisfied, i think (you can be the ultimate judge). The pics need a little PP sharpening but the raw material delivers big time IMO. Back home in the Houston at the moment but heading back to Scotland in a couple of weeks so looking to trying it out on the Scottish wildlife

Me too. I just got me one of those too (1.7tc not a rhino) so I'm looking forward to testing it. Now for a DA*300.

Will do one day, but I need to save up for the 300. In the meantime it'll be the 55-300.
