There's a test on one here:

I would think it's limitations would be more obvious on the K-r due to the higher resolution.

The 18-250 looks considerably better IMHO:

I use a Sigma 18-200 on my K110 from time to time and find it a good travel lens.

As I do with my Tamron 18-250 on my K200.

If all you want to do is not change lenses on a trip they're fine, but the long end can suffer quality loss.

My Tamron 18-250 [ was Mike P's ] is my travel lens - saves me having to swap lenses [ BTW Pentax Expert note the spelling of the plural of lens ] when away from a safe place, thanks to my dodgy hands and lack of feeling. I've never used it above 200 so can't comment about the quality loss . OK it's heavier than my other lenses but it saves me a lot of worry.

The drop off at the long end isn't always that obvious, if the aperture is kept around f8 the long end can be usable.

This sample is sharp as a pin and taken in bright sunlight at f6.3 1/500th.

thats an impressive shot - not sure whether to go for one of them now instead of the 18-250 as they are a lot cheaper...

I had a look at these two lenses a while back with mind of buying one or the other, the Tammy seems to get slightly better reviews than the Sigma and that's the one I would have gone for. I ended up buying the Sigma 17-70 2.8 OS HSM for some reason. Here`s a link with some cracking shots taken with the Tamron.link

Just bought a Tamron 18-200 to replace my 18-55 & 50-200. Very impressed so far and the flexibility afforded by only using one lens when out and about is priceless.

+1 Kept the 18-55 & 50-200 but the 18-200 has made them redundant,after two & a half years I'm still impressed
