I would think it's limitations would be more obvious on the K-r due to the higher resolution.
The 18-250 looks considerably better IMHO:

As I do with my Tamron 18-250 on my K200.
If all you want to do is not change lenses on a trip they're fine, but the long end can suffer quality loss.
K110+DA40, K200+DA35, K3 and a bag of lenses, bodies and other bits.
Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...

This sample is sharp as a pin and taken in bright sunlight at f6.3 1/500th.

Just bought a Tamron 18-200 to replace my 18-55 & 50-200. Very impressed so far and the flexibility afforded by only using one lens when out and about is priceless.
+1 Kept the 18-55 & 50-200 but the 18-200 has made them redundant,after two & a half years I'm still impressed

struggling to find many places that have the 18-250
i will keepmy both 18-55mm and 55-200mm and buy the tamron asswell,
it doesnt sound a bad lens,
