Thanks for the feed back, was thinking of using a converter on the Tamron 70-200 and future pentax 300, not something I would consider using on the bigma as this lens is hard work as it is.manual focus is ok as thats all I use anyway.Only ones I see for pentax here are sigma and tamron.
Thanks again
C&C welcome.

The Sigma teleconverters will only fit certain Sigma lenses because they have a protruding front element which fits inside the rear of the 70-200mm f2.8 (for instance). I would say the Tamron 1.4x MC4 is your best bet as Amin has tried mine on his DA* 300mm and it is proven to work.

The Kenko 1.5 works OK with my Sigma 18-200 and also all other autofocus non-SDM lenses I possess.
The Kenko ones you are looking for are Pz-AF 1.5X Teleplus SHQ these work on SDM. Pz-AF 1.5X Teleplus MC do NOT
The Kenko 1.5 converter I have refers to it as being AF 1.5x Teleplus DG on the box, but on the information slip inside it heads it SHQ 1.5x AF Teleplus. However, on the Intro 2020 website, it shows Pz-AF on the photo of the converter itself. I obviously purchased mine before this change since mine just says P-AF. If I get the Pz version, will this function correctly with the 300 DA*?

I use the Pz-AF 1.5X Teleplus SHQ with a DA*300 and it works fine with SDM. I also have a Pz-AF 1.5X Teleplus MC and it will not Auto focus at all with the DA*300. hope this helps.

I have asked the importers (Intro 2020) to clarify the situation regarding the supply of the Pz versions as it appears that the latest DG versions in the stores cannot support SDM AF function, just the screw drive AF.

I can confirm that the DA*60-250 works fine with the Tamron 1.4x Pz-AF TC which is now not available, they also made a 2x Pz-AF TC as well.

It's a blow if the current versions of the Kenko 1.5x and 2x DG TC's cannot support SDM.

Let's wait and see what Intro have to say (if anything!).

Yes I have and it works reasonably well, though there is some hunting, especially at the long end.

Heard back from Intro 2020 about the current DG tele-converters. Sadly no go, here's their response:

Dear Richard,

I have checked with our own Pentax K10D & 16-50 D* lens, unfortunately the Kenko converters don't have the extra two contacts to make them work.

Best regards

My experience too - got the Kenko MC7 2X converter today and have to use MF with my 50-135 lens.

Luckily that is the only SDM lens I have, and the TC is destined for use mainly with my recently-acquired Tamron 180mm prime plus old SMCK 135 - both of which were built many years before SDM was invented.

By the way, if SDM is not a major issue for you, I found the Kenko at Microglobe in London today, for £117. That is by far the cheapest I've seen it. They also had a 1.5X Kenko in Pentax fit but I didn't ask the price of that.

The only converters I can now see for sale on Aussie sites are Sigma.
Thanks all for the response on this one.
