Tamron for Pentax

Having examined my wallet and lots of reviews and postings especially the sample photographs I've more or less decided to splash out on the cheapest option and buy a Tamron 10-24mm and a Tamron 90mm macro lens.
Now the stupid question: Are these lenses designed for use on a Pentax camera without any other adapter eg. Adaptall 2 P/KA ? That would be another £60+ on the price so not such a bargain.

Yes, they are. You do not need an adapter of any kind. (Provided you buy the Pentax mount version of the lenses, of course).

Depends if you are thinking of buying the Adaptall 2 version of the 90mm macro. If you are going for the current AF version then no, there is nothing else to buy.

10-24mm is fairly recent anyway and is fine.

That's what I was assuming. The Adaptall 2 version would only be available 2nd hand, but it's just as well you clarified!

I don't blame you. I'm still saving the cash for a macro lens myself, and have no regrets about purchasing an ultra-wide.

The only caveat might be that for about half the price or less of the latest Tamron 90mm macro you could get the Adaptall SP version + Pka adaptor which would be optically pretty much the same. No autofocus but you might be manually focusing for macro anyway. Just a thought.

I have considered the Tamron P/KA Adapter, and was assuming this could be used with any Tamron Adaptall lens, but have seen very few P/KA Adapters for sale and the price is about £60 on ebay. Also a bit wary of buying used lenses, with a shop I can take it back easier if faulty.

Yes - there is a slight risk. The adaptors seem to be about £45 these days but are in fairly short supply and yes you are right they can be used with all the Adaptall lenses. I think it's always best to do what you are most confident with.

I am toying with the idea of selling my Tamron 90 (AF). Excellent lens, but I'm just not doing any macro, and have just bought a fast tele.

I suppose like all beginners I have a bad case of lens lust that's why I'm looking at the cheaper options till I decide what I want to do in photography. I think I'm a bit long in the tooth to become a "General Specialist". Also the "financial controller" doesn't like creepy crawlies.

Were you toying with a price and does it have the p/ka adadpter
