35mm only or digital

Hi guys,

I've never been good at putting a correct title to a thread but I was wondering if these 2 lenses below from my Mz50 35mm camera would be ok to use on my k100d and if so are the results the same as a proper digital compatible lens

Tamron 28-80mm 1:3-5-5-6 lens
Sigma 100-300mm lens

They should be fine and if they have an "A" setting on the aperture ring (if there is one) then totally functional.

Lenses designed for film are generally OK, but sometimes not as good as ones designed for digital. This is primarily because digital lenses have a telecentric design, where light rays are kept as parallel as possible to enable then light to spill into the wells that hold each pixel.

Any disadvantage seems to be balanced out by using just the centre of the field for an APS-C sensor, the sweet spot of any lens.

Very old lenses can give variable results, but some are still excellent.

Since you've already got all the kit, why not try them out and report your findings for others??

If they 'autofocus' on your MZ50 then they'll work just the same on your K100d, if not then manual focus should work.
