This is a fantastic lense ! I'm seen some amazing shots with the 28-75 and you can not begin to compare it to the 17-70 (nice lense but a level down IQ wise). I'ts still on my list but after getting the 17-50/2.8 it's now at #3 !

Congratulations.
It can be a very nice start to build a setup around. Normal to light tele for general use / wide angle, add a wide angle and a longer tele depending on needs.
I currently shoot with a 30'ish for general use / walk around and have not missed a shot in 2 months. I will eventually add a longer prime (70mm - 100mm; priority 1) and a wide angle (priority 2).

Capable of f2.8 throughout the focal range it's sharp, focuses fairly quickly and produces just enough bokeh when you want that extra added effect.
Sure, it's not for everyone's taste with a minimum range of 28mm (some people will want a wider angle such as the Sigma offers) but so far as my general walk-around lens it's brilliant.
Highly recommend for anyone who has been looking for a general walk-around lens and isn't sure which one to get!
