I have the 35 2.4. It is a bargain. there are threads relating to it if you search a bit.

The 35mm f2.4 is brilliant - a modern answer to the old M 50/1.7 in that it's a relatively cheap but superbly sharp prime. It isn't a case of "excellent for the money" (with the implication that you can't expect much at that price) either - it can stand up to lenses costing two or three times as much.

The 35 is tiny, light and has a plastic mount - the 30mm is reasonably compact, but not small. Of course, the 30mm has a lot more glass - it's a 1.4 compared to a 2.4. The diagonal of an APS-C sensor is 28mm, so 30mm is closer to a "true natural", but the 35mm is slightly closer to the classic 50mm equivalent.

The 35mm f2.4 is superb, if you do a search on here you'll find a lot of very happy owners.

All three (Sigma 30, and Pentax's two 35s) are great lenses.
I can personally vouch for the DA35 Limited: it might be expensive (though markedly less so now than it was this time last year), but the rendering is gorgeous. Plenty of sharpness if that's your thing (stop down to f5.6 and it's astonishing), nice bokeh, plus as a "go anywhere, do anything" lens it fits the bill: normalish in angle (similar to the 50mm prime that used to come with all film cameras), and the macro capability means you're never too close to take the shot you want.

To be fair, if you buy the 35/2.4 then decide you'd rather have the Ltd then you probably won't lose much from selling it on. This most likely applies the other way around too!

I am one of those very happy owners. Great little light lens with excellent IQ. The 35mm f2.4 is superb, if you do a search on here you'll find a lot of very happy owners.

I have the 35 2.8 Limited, bought it before the price went up, could potentially sell it at a profit but I like it so much it's a keeper. I love how you are almost touching the object you are trying to take a 1:1 macro of. Good portrait results as well, although it does not have the utter sharpness of the DA40 or my correctly stopped down 50/1.7. As other posters have said, it's a nice length for walkabouts in town, and the metal parts ooze quality.

The portraits I've taken with mine have this indefinable 'sparkle' about them - though there's plenty of detail there (my other primes are the 50 Macro and 100 Macro, so I'm not exactly sharpness-deprived ). Not sure how helpful such waffle is to the OP, but I think this lens is certainly the exemplar of the modern 'Pentax look'.

Has anyone bought or tried the Pentax smc DA 35mm F2.4 AL Lens - £149.00 (approx) which came out late last year.
Failing that has anyone got the more expensive Pentax DA 35mm F2.8 Macro Limited Lens.
Your experience of either is welcome.
