Symmetry - part 2

OK - we may have another problem - my lack of skills with Bridge/ PSE .

The first pic will I think be OK - will find a smooth cover for the box and table[ it's glass covered so need to hide the glare. Now should this background be pale or a deep [ not navy ] blue ?

The second pic is more of a problem I've been searching for two unframed mirrors - have only got one that's 'portable' the other small one has a white plastic frame so won't do for what I had in mind . I've even asked my sister-in-law if she has one - no success .

I then realised that upstairs we/I have a drinks cabinet - so investigated - mirror/glass base and back

OK can solve the lighting problem [ and the clutter on the adjacent cupboard ] I think BUT there is a very obvious join between the upright and the base .

Has anyone got any ideas as to how I can disguise this ? I'm led to believe that this is not removeable in iPhoto and I'm not kidding when I say I can't do it in PSE /Bridge

I think you need to go for something much simpler.

Look at these from the gallery:

https://www.pentaxuser.com/photo/rubix-cube-6307

Not all symmetrical, but they are good for ideas.

Get those pencils out of their boxes and line them up so they are symmetrical and interesting. Or find a Mercedes or a Toyota badge you can photograph.

While I was typing Gwyn was doing her bit, so I deleted my thoughts because Gwyn covered them all. Right up to the crayons and forks bit.

As a other suggestion....just google symmetry, click option pictures and learn from the examples.

Ohhhhhh, forget about photo-shopping something together to get a acceptable result.
Unless you are absolutely certain your tutor has agreed on that.
Which....would amaze me, because you signed in on a photography course and not on a course image manipulation, right?
Best regards,

Martin.

OK . I was very frustrated last night about all this - actually just about ready to chuck it in However was steered back to the sort of pics I enjoy taking - so off this morning I went - camera , both lenses and flash unit .

Reasonably happy with the results - I took about a dozen pics - one got deleted [ My fault ] and I have slightly tweaked 4 - straightening and cropping , sort of thing.

Learnt 2 lessons - one - a tripod will help and two Flash units work better when switched on !!

So here are 4 which I will submit on Monday evening [ don't have time to go back and re take with a working flash ] I'll try and get a rather nice circular stained glass window on Sunday - but if I don't I think these should do .

I like a good stained glass window and these are very good, I like nos. 2 and and 3 especially. I hope your tutor is pleased with you, he should be.

Being picky #2 is not symmetrical. You have more windows and carpet to the left than right. I do like #3 though, as far as I can see Arches, Windows, Phews, all line up.

I don't hope my comments caused a big part of your frustration.
On the other hand.....Seeing your new attempt and specially your remark about the tripod makes me smile. I think you now have a result you can be proud off and confidently show your tutor. Lets hope he feels the same. Good luck.
Best regards,

Martin.

Sometimes these comments are necessary as to challenge us to do what is not comfortable but our real capabilities with our equipment. If we are not challenged to excel, all we have is snapshots. Hard work and talent shows itself in the end.

Yes - I've just seen that for the first time - I rejected another one for the same reason

I'll go through them all again and see if I can correct that one.

OK here we are - a substitution that I think is OK instead of #2

The reading desks [ ?] are now OK , the windows are OK

BUT one of the arches in the roof is not quite right

It's lovely, and close enough to symmetry. Don't knock yourself out over this.
You have tried hard, and found a very lovely example. I'm impressed.
