Still trying to decide

Hi,
Am joining the Pentaxians next week, when I buy my first DSLR.
I am mainly interested in Landscapes and Atrchitecture.
After months of research I have decided on the K20D, in UK there is a £100 cashback if I buy it with either the 16-45 or the 18-55 and 50-200 zooms, or just the 18-55 Zoom.
Still not sure which one to go for, currently leaning towards the 16-45;
My budget will stretch to some more glass towards the end of the year and the 16-45 gives the greatest saving on the deal, but it might limit what i can do?
Not sure if this is the place for it, but anyone got any thoughts?

Why would the 16-45mm limit what you can do?

I'm guessing, but if you think the 5mm gap in your lens range is significant, then be assured that it isn't.

The 16-45mm has to be the best balance at current prices between its cost and its superb quality. Go for it and you won't feel the need to upgrade it later.

Yes, without doubt. In any event, don't forget that the 50-200mm will be very useful for landscapes too.

I would be very happy with the 16-45mm and 50-200mm as lens companions. There isn't much that can't be done by just those two lenses. There are lots more lenses that you might like to have for all sorts of reasons, but those two will serve very well for starters.

Later on you might add an ultra-wide or a macro, depending on your photographic style.

Last month I purchased a K20 and DA 16-45, have not used much but I can say I am pleased with this lens.
Another telephoto lens would complete my kit i think

You can get the 50-200mm for a LOT less than £160

Shop around, also consider the Samsung badged 50-200mm, they are the same lens. I bought my Samsung 50-200mm, brand new about 6 months ago for much, much less than £160.

SRS Microsystems have it for £85 with free delivery to forum members.

They also have the K20D for £679 & £100 cashback. As they are a Pentax Pro Centre, you'll get 2 years warranty too.

I also bought K20D + 16-45mm at the end of December and I'm really happy (oh, well, I'd be happier with sunny weather on weekends ). And 50-200mm is below £100 in SRS.

Hi And welcome, The 16-45mm is really nice, I own one and use on my K20, I also have the 50-200,I do not use this one as much in fact I will be selling it and a few other items that I have but don't use.
