I've had my K-3 for a few months now and I'm starting to get to grips with it. I took advantage of the lovely weather today to go out into the garden and capture some images of the gorgeous orange-red tulips we have growing in one of the borders. I'm finding that the K-3 is a magnificent camera for taking photos of flowers and for macro work, in fact the K-5IIs is hardly getting a look in of late. Thanks to everyone for the kind comments on this set! I really did enjoy taking these, there's something quite stimulating about taking pictures in the same place time and time again and trying to get something different each time.

You are welcome anytime Simon, as is everyone else, we could have a BBQ and a home-made pizza from the wood-fired oven! Plenty of insect shots available too!

Hi Louise, it takes a lot of patience and practice! The other thing with shots like this is to forget about autofocus and use manual focus instead. It is virtually impossible to get the camera to AF on a bee as it is too small and moves too quickly; the camera keeps trying to focus on the background instead! The Pentax DFA 100 Macro has lovely smooth manual focussing that makes it easier. Also, it is important to under-expose when photographing red flowers, otherwise the reds get burned out.
