Doesn't work for me...sorry.
It seems like it is neither a close up of the light, nor a shot of the aircraft, but falls somewhere in between.

No need to say sorry! I'd much rather have brutally honest opinions and improve my photography. If anything the C&C around here is usually too pleasant! (as Dr Mhuni has already mentioned in MikeP's sunset bench thread)

I like it and it was precisely the sort of image I was looking for at the RAF Museum yesterday and failed to find. I think I'd crop out the cockpit and a third of the right hand sided, though.

I Like the idea that I think was intended, but the foreground would need lots more detail to be an effective highlight against the OOF background - nice try though!
Photography is putting ones head, ones eye, and ones heart on the same axis. HCB

Not pretentious at all I'd say but too busy I think. The idea of the sharp black light (?) is sound but then the triangle and roundel compete for attention. You could try desaturating them a little and see if that helps. I also agree that you can lose some of the cockpit (how did they get that name I wonder).

It's a nice idea and I think it will work after it's cropped slightly as ken suggests.
In museums and similar places it's a challenge to produce images that don't give away where they are. This one is a bold idea and it does exactly what it needs to.
I like it.

I was scrolling down the comments and at one point just the lower third of the image was visible - that actually looked quite good.

I tried a tighter crop as suggested by Ken, it looks pretty good to me! I was concerned the lack of the cockpit might make the background harder to identify, but it seems okay:

I wish I had got the light (is that what it is?) a bit sharper, but in my defence it was very gloomy and my shutter speed was 1/25 (Forgot to set ISO after switching to a manual lens)
