Sort of farewell from me

I joined Pentax User when I got my DSLR (about 5 years ago). I rarely post but follow things a lot.
But, due to illness causing me to be unable to hold my camera steady and resulting in a lot of blurred/shaky photos, I'm selling my lenses (100mm macro and 55-300 zoom) and thinking seriously about getting rid of my K20D body and standard lens.
This has really upset me as I love my Pentax, but I am trying to be practical.
I've put my lenses in the classified, already had someone contact me but what I'd like to know is how do most people go about paying for stuff. Is it by bank transfer, Paypal, or what.
Thank you Pentax for giving me some of the best of my photography days, sad to say goodbye

Sad news indeed

As for selling your gear, PayPal may charge fees, ask buyer to pay fees or pay you as a 'gift'. Bank transfer is a lot easier and quicker

Sorry to read this.

Before you sell off everything, have you considered/tried a monopod?

You can get them either like one leg of a tripod, or as walking aids like Nordic walking poles. They come in carbon fibre as well to reduce weight.

PayPal may be the safest route, but do be cautious about asking people to send you the money as a gift, when clearly it's a purchase. That could come unstuck if PayPal notice.

In any event, I personally would never label anything a gift unless it was actually so.

As for steadiness, it's a real problem, but a solid tripod and remote release could be one way of getting around it.
Best regards, John

Thank you for your help, you are all very kind.

I do wildlife photography, insects and birds mainly and I've tried monopods, tripods and my trusty SLR gorillapod. But it's all getting a little difficult and stressful, which sometimes makes things worse.

The trouble is with the wildlife is they just will not stop and pose for me, isn't that just bad of them But seriously, by time I've set up for a photo, my bugs have gone, and I used to be able to do my photography without any extra supporting equipment.

But I think I will hold on to my K20D body and standard lens for a while, as I like it so much.

And thank you everyone for the replies about payment. I've already had an offer on my lenses and the buyer (from Italy) is going to paypal me.

Hi, I'm new to Pentax User Forum so I thought I would introduce myself with a reply to MadMic. I hope you are still reading replies to your message Don't give up yet, you may be able to get help. I also have difficulties with a degenerative disease which is beginning to limit my ability to take photographs. For example I can no longer get down to ground level to take close-ups of plants and insects etc. because I cannot get up again afterwards. I have a Pentax K10D which I now find too heavy to lug around and have scaled down to the Pentax K-r which is slightly lighter. I also have to limit myself to the number of lenses I take out.

However, I am now a member of Sutton Coldfield Photographic Society whose president is also slightly disabled. He is a member of the Disabled Photographers Club and he collects any unwanted photographic and optical equipment which the club sells at the annual photographic exhibition in Birmingham. They then use the proceeds to help other disabled photographers where possible by making modifications to equipment.

So far I have not needed to get help from this group but it will not be long before I need to join them. I would suggest that you contact this group to see if they can help you with your problems. Their website can be found at : http://www.disabledphotographers.co.uk

That was a very thoughtful post Howard. I hope the OP sees it

Sometimes I'm serious and sometimes not, but I consider sarcasm an artform. Which is it today?
