Thanks for posting this. I hadn't come across either the Raynox or the diffuser before - a very inexpensive and versatile macro option.

Yep, have to agree, not up to dedicated macro lens standards but definitely a versatile low cost option, as you say.

Good stuff - Raynoxes are so underrated. I always recommend them.
... just another middle-aged guy with a hobby. I have an extreme macro learning site at extreme-macro.co.uk - Pentax-centric, your feedback and comments would be appreciated!

Only just seen these; great stuff from such a lens. I have an old Sigma screw on macro adapter that is same size thread as the 55-300; must give it a go having seen these!
Also followed the link to your flickr page - you have some excellent photos on there!

Thanks for your kind comments. I also have a sigma macro adaptor that I use a lot with this lens (and others). It's a 'Sigma Achromatic Macro Lens'. If yours is the same it is a quality piece of +1.6 dioptre glass. In fact I rated it so good I bought a spare!Only just seen these; great stuff from such a lens. Just like to say thanks to nass for also taking the time to comment, but I missed it!
