I even took out my *ist DL2 as I live in Canada and we have snow all the time. And thus another example of JOE or JANE NO AT ALL who knows nothing.

My good old MX spent time in the Arctic and went down to -40 and snow was never a problem for that either! Just needed to have a second battery in an inside pocket.

Taking one picture when someone from a few houses away - too much money! He made a comment along the lines of "You must be taking a risk with your camera in this weather - Oh, it's a Pentax, so fairly cheap to replace when it gets wet. I would never take my Nikon out in this weather"
If you saw his face when I told him that it was fully waterproof and snow was certainly not a problem!
Er - so he's proud of a limitation of his equipment compared to yoursWent out for a walk today and took my camera - but not much worth using it on.

Next they'll be making programs about people who are proud to be bad drivers (and the associated increased risk of maiming innocent bystanders)...

*chuckles* I took my brand new K200 out today and guess what.. had zero hesitation using it in the snow. Course being weathersealed helped but I'd have used my 110 without hesitation too.

I went out in the snow before 8am this morning and took 159 photos. I used the DA*16-50 on my K20D as it is the only lens I have with weather sealing.
The weather sealing was really necessary. It was still snowing then and out in the woods I got dumped on a couple of times with snow falling off the trees covering the camera in snow. The big problem I had was the lens kept misting over although some of this was caused by me continually looking at it to see if it had misted over. I think I got some good pictures.
I went out again after lunch but it was not as nice. There were lots more people about and much of the snow had been trampled or churned up although I did take another 46 photos one of which I have submitted for the current 2-week competition.
My big fear was that I was going to slip over and damage the camera. I ended up with the camera bag on my front as I reckoned that if I did fall I would be going over on my back. I did slip over, onto my back, in the early morning outing but it was in deep snow on a slope while I was holding the camera and nothing came amiss other than filling the then empty camera bag with snow

I took the twins out today, thier not identical (one has live view)
I had no hesitation using either, though I did take care to wait for the blizzard to stop before using the Bigma
What you call blizzard in your part of the world is what we call a light misting of snow in our part of the world (I presently have 1 12 meter of snow in my backyard). That said, I use my cameras in snow and cold weather anytime I see a use for it and never have any problems. Come to think about it, I don't see too many Canon or Nikon on my outings. Wonder why?I took the twins out today, thier not identical (one has live view)

edit: I meant to say one meter and a half, but I can't put it in numerical form...

You guys just showed how inept I can be with a computer. I'm more at ease behind the camera than in front of a computer.

No, you would want to be as far away as possible from that scene...
