Try to clean the contacts.
If that doesn't help contact Sigma and see what they say.

thx for the tip, cleaned it, it wasn't working and then all the sudden it worked! i'm a bit worried it might stop again..?
is that a common thing? otherwise the AF is fast and silent, i like it!

Don't know never had a sigma.
I do know that dirty problem caused some of the problems with SDM/HSM so that's why i suggested it.
It's the bottom contact (info contact) that's important for that.

For burnishing contacts like these, is the old computer tip of using the eraser on a pencil safe for camera contacts as well?

They are more like bearings though so be carefully that no gum comes in the fitting for the rest i don't see why it should be a problem.

It's relatively common, but equally easy to fix each time it happens.

Trying out a second hand sigma HSM lens, it has a AF/MF button on the lens, whatever setting I use I can only seem to use Manual focus.
Even when I put the camera on AF and the lens on AF my autofocus is not recognised by the camera (it says MF on the screen).
Am I doing something wrong or is my AF not working?
It's on a Kx which is HSM compatible so wondering if the lens is damaged or something?
