You can't use a QR plate, see below.I've just sent off a couple of mails asking both BlackRapid, and Sun-sniper about compatibility with QR plates. It will be interesting to hear what, if anything they have to say. I am sure I'm not the only one to have this problem with their straps.

You've resolved your financial situation then? I thought you were selling everything and getting something simpler, to raise money. Although, I did notice that the wind direction had changed again. I was but I think I'm going to keep it and just make more effort to get out with it!

I know you can't use a QR plate, that's why I haven't got the strap. At Photokina BlackRapid said they were bringing our a connector that was compatible with an Arca Swiss QR, but there is no sign of one yet.Gwyn wrote:

I am not the only person to have a QR on their camera all the time, and it is a shame they don't yet cater for us. Hence the e-mails to both companies to see what they have to say.
Meanwhile I will use my Optech strap with it's adapter strap, though I am not happy hanging all the weight on just one strap connector.

Thanks guys, brilliant I will take a look at the options, I don't have a QR plate on my camera that much so any of them look good for me!

I have the Lowepro Voyager C on the K10D and the '5 needs one. They're much more comfortable than the original - far wider and padded well.

Well BlackRapid have responded - they are still working on it but hope to have it available mid summer. So I may get a BlackRapid yet .
Nothing from Sun-Sniper yet.

That one has the same problem as the OpTech version - it relies on the strength of the strap mount on the body. I have the OpTech one, but don't like relying on a single strap mount - they have been known to fail, as I said.
The PodMount they offer has the same problem as RapidBlack or Sun-sniper - you can't use it with a QR plate.

I think I'd prefer something that attached to the tripod mount rather than relying on the one strap mount I think I'd feel a bit worried about using only the strap mount.

Then the Optech is not for you. Look at the Blackrapid and the Sun-sniper. decide which you prefer. Sun-sniper do a strap with wire through it meaning your strap can't be cut by some opportune thief, but, BlackRapid seem to get better reviews.

I have to agree. My K20 bounces right in my solar plexus it drives me mad. So I bought a "quick strap" from ebay for £15. and it's a huge improvement. Pretty much the same as the "sun sniper" that someone linked to above but far less money.
Very comfortable carry position by your side and the camera falls right into your hand when you need it. It also has a litte pocket for memory card/IR remote. Well worth the money. You may want to remove it for tripod use though I don't think that's too much of a problem. At least not for me.

It's all down to personal taste and how we use different kit. No different to using third party lenses, batteries, memory and any other items that carry a different brand name or perform better in certain enviroments.
One thing I have noticed though, since getting and using the Sun Sniper, I have managed to cross the bunting twice into restricted areas at shows. Just stepped over and started shooting. Officials seem to think that because you look like a pro carrying three cameras and waring a harness, you must be.
Funny
Best regards

With the Pentax straps I find the camera is contantly trying to roll off my shoulder so I end up effectively carrying my camera by hand.
