Shameless :o(

Hello Everyone

I have learned a few things in the last few days, these include the following.

Now having a car with ASC/ESP/ABS/EBD etc takes away a lot of the fun of driving in the snow and ice but wow does it make a simple trip home easier - no sliding, no pirouette, no human input - seriously impressive albeit boring - it helps here in Wales though

Whilst safety systems on a car make life boring they are best left switched on - however, I am back on the mf lenses leaving af to others

Ok, my trip this morning was meant to catch some shots of the birdie dudies early in the day, this did not work out as I had hoped so I ended up shamelessy stealing/ borrowing the style of Bwlchmawr, albeit not to the same standard.

Whilst taking a few of these shots it occurred to me that as much as being in the Yosemite National Park and standing on the roof of your car with camera and tripod won't make you perform like Ansell Adams, neither will pointing your camera at rusty things make you equal to Bwlchmawr

Here's the proof, all with my K10 and my trusty but not yet rusty M42 Tokina 300mm f5.5

I think the heron may possibly be more than "half" decent, Stuey.

Not too keen on your stile or is it style?

But the quarry wagon wheels are very nice against the snow, as is the bolt, post and grass shot.

The rusty ones remind of shots I've seen recently but I can't for the life of me remember who took them!
Best wishes,

Andrew

Hi Andrew

The heron really caused me grief - I first spotted it pre 8am (camera was not reset from bst so it was 10 something not 11 something for the actual shot) and it either flew through very dark areas or landed repeatedly between myself and the sun.

The shot caught was bizarre in that I was tracking a so far unidentified large black heron like bird with a red/orange throat when I found the heron once more

To be fair I will suffer in a day or so as I had to move along the river back like a monkey using trees etc and my upper body strength is not what it used to be

Also managed to twist my previously broken/ ligament damaged knee as well - I am no mountain goat

I have still not got a heron shot that I am proud of but this one is certainly a cut above my previous efforts but a long way to go me thinks

Thanks for the comments - I may once again attempt the Bwlchmar stylie

I can appreciate why you may not like my stylie as it is so different to yours, however I shoot what makes me happy and as this changes who knows where I may end up

ALSO - THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND COMMENT HG

Cheers

I like three and four Stuey, as well as the moon and heron shots. The heron looks like he has a slight halo along his back?

No. two has a shadow on the metal clamp between the two bolts, right where my eyes want to focus. Might be worth a re-shoot?

I believe Andrew was probably wondering why you didn't like your own style, rather than indicating that he doesn't!

Sorry to hear about the knee.

Best regards

Thanks for the comments guys

The heron does have a slight halo from where I desaturated the purple fringing- this was shot using the lens at full apeture so pf usually follows - I still ike the lens though

I think Andrew was just being honest - an excellent quality - Andrew has indicated that he does not really go for bird shots and lets face it he does a very good job at what he does - should he start shooting the little birdie dudies as well that would be a bit of a departure for him

I will try to capture a bird of some sort on something rusty and maybe that will bring him round to it

Thanks for the comments guys.
