September Yorkshire meet

Hello again,

I am looking to organise another Yorkshire meet in what will be the Indian summer of September!

Temple Newsham Leeds (wonderfrul large managed and wild grounds)
Ilkley Moor ( rock carvings, sheep and large views near the car parks)
Lotherton Hall, Leeds (gardens and large aviary)
Hard Castle Crags, Hebden Bridge (excellent woodland with small river)

or make a suggestion.

In order to keep everyone happy let me know which day and venue you prefer from the above. I will then work out the one that most of us can make.

Hi Dave, I vote W/E Sept 22 or 29 as it's my wedding anniversary on 13th and we will probably be busy on the 15/16 . Any of the venues would suit me and I will go with whatever the majority want, although Hardcastle crags sounds good. I look forward to it, and the indian summer.

The 15th would be best for me or could do the 22nd at a push.

I always find Temple Newsam a bit boring (photographically speaking) unless you concentrate on the flower gardens, I suppose I've seen the place too many times

Lotherton Hall is OK for a bit of everything but long lenses are a must if you want to photograph the Deer. Plus there's St Marys? chapel a few miles down the road.

Ilkley Moor, OK if the light is exceptional otherwise forget it.

Hard Castle Crags??? dont know, never been

What about the pub

how about going somewhere really grotty? i hate photographing things like temple newsam. certainly nothing after 21st for me. I'll be in Nottingham after that. But I don't really know if I'll be able to make it anyway so I'll just see when you guys have decided on a date/location

Changed my mind re. date and think 15th would be best after all, as I may have to work on 22nd and 23rd as students start to return from the summer break.

I don't propose the whole walk to Gibson Mill and return as that is about 3 or 4 miles. I envisage a wander round the woods and along the river.

Unbelievably, I can't make Saturday as my daughter has received a birthday invite from a school friend and I have been told by the boss that I have to go with her. I have tried everything to get out of this but to no avail. I am so miffed.
Don't suppose that we could change to Sunday, I can definitely make that day.

Just sat down after a busy trip to Scotland and a very hectic week. I think I can get to hebdon bridge, but I'd then need to walk the mile or two to the meeting place. Not really a problem if my walking boots are dry by then. Scotland was very wet and boggy as usual. However, my boots really suffered this time and I was walking in water for most of a day.

I'll be back on later/tomorrow to confirm.
