Self portraits

I detest my own image.

If anyone wants to take a picture of me, I would recommend a 1000mm lens and a TC.

So here's two of me

I really like the simplicity of the first, it's got great composition and the colours work very well. It's a shot you can study and admire for a moment or two; the reflection draws you in.

For me the second is a bit too busy with the reflection and the background. There's too much going on for me.

Unfortunately the image size isn't sufficent for this to really work well, but what I'd be inclined to do with the first one is something like this:

I might even go closer, but it doesn't leave anything recognisable at these file sizes!

The 2nd has a very film-like appearance & looking at those red shorts I'm guessing it's bona-fide 70's

I'm not kidding at the film-like appearance though... was this taken with an older lens (which I've found give those nice muddy colours) or was it achieved in post process ?

The lens in both cases was a DA*16-50.

The muddy colour may well be down to the amount of coal burning around the place.

I have to say what John has done with the first shot is quite spectacular.
