Thanks for all the helpful comments & suggestions (both positive & negative).
However, if I had known in advance that this was such a contentious subject, I probably wouldn't have posted it at all!

Philip - No matter what others may think of the general approach, I liked the second one in your thread. On second thoughts, perhaps I should be thankful that there were no comments on the colour popping in my "Devon 2" thread!

That's a critique ? More like an assasination... I merely said that colour pop can be good but this isn't it
The idea of the image is a reasonable one and certainly well handled.

I'm glad you did post it. Nothing like honest debate, even if it gets slightly over heated sometimes, to increase our appreciation of photography.
Colour popping, like long exposure seascapes, have become a cliché as have views of the Lake District and close ups of flower heads. But the very best photographs of all these subjects when done expertly and artistically are well worth viewing.
I did a colour pop a few days ago and now I'm tempted to post it in the Forum before donning a tin hat and ducking behind the sofa.

OK then Stan. One tiny red spot might get past the fashion police.

Please don't be bullied or intimidated by other photographers if you want to colour pop colour pop? it still is an art used in a lot in photography just like HDR? so if you like the end result use it! and stuff every one else these people just like to heard as no one will listen to what they say anyway so let them troll and have there fun.

Please restrict this thread to the current subject. If it starts to be a repeat of a previous argument it won't survive very long.
If you want to introduce selective colour, do so if you think it enhances the subject. If you don't like the technique, don't use it. Very simple choices, but please respect each other's choices.

I actually like images like this, although I have to agree with johnriley, it's a bit too clean for me. A bit darker/saturated might work? Or maybe a tighter crop, that tree really has some character to it! Well done spotting it.

David - I agree with Barrie - a little brighter please.
I might also be tempted to try blurring the tunnel portal a bit more, as I find my eye drawn to it and in particular to the "No walking" access signs.

My comments against colour popping nd other cheesy technique's are entirely my own honest opinion and not done for trolling reasons. People ask for critique then nowt wrong in giving it. ... and yes I agree, if you like something, then do it no matter what others think.
